Another Close Game in NorCal

Danville Oaks handed Jesuit of Sacramento another close loss in what has become a wildly competitive NorCal Premier HS league.
Of the nine games in NorCal Premier played so far, four have been decided by a try or less.
Jesuit ran out to a 7-0 lead with a try from Joshua Baleiwelagi just three minutes into the match. Danville answered with a Jared Randall penalty goal, but Jesuit actually built a commanding lead going into halftime. Brady Lofrano's try, with a Cannon Davey conversion, made it 14-3 and another Marauders try put them up 21-3.
However, injuries had hit Jesuit by then. with three players going off injures. With the lineup shifted around a bit Danville struck with tries by Tommy Ashton and Marco Romeo, with Randall converting one. Byt halftime it was 21-15.
Alistair Eldrige went over right after the break and, with Randall's conversion, it was Danville 22 Jesuit 21. The game tightened up somewhat after that. Both teams made it over the line only to be held up. Davey hit the post on a penalty goal attempt.
In the second half Jesuit lost captain and flyhalf Jack Patock to injury. But they rallied, and with flanker Max Duchesne winning lineouts they worked their way down for a penalty, which Davey put over. Jesuit 24, Danville 22.
But as time wore on, Ashton scored his second, Randall converted, and that was it, 29-24 for Danville.
The Oaks improved to 2-1 while Jesuit fell to 0-3.
Leading the league is Granite Bay, which beat Motherlode 45-8 Saturday.
"This league is tough, well coached, physical, and has athletes," said Jesuit Head Coach Andrew Acosta. The big issue for teams going forward is whether they have the depth to handle it all.
