NE Wide Leaders Tie, Tighten Standings
There are no certainties in the New England Wide conference, and last weekend’s 10-10 tie between the top two teams tightens an already tense race. With three weekends of league play remaining, the top four Tier I teams are separated by only seven standings points (view here).
Stevens Pt Looking for 3rd Title
While this is the second year that Great Waters has hosted a two-pool, 14-team league, it is the competition’s first season as a hybrid league. Two of the divisions’ best – DII’s UW Stevens Point and NSCRO’s UW Platteville – squared off on Saturday, and UWSP exited with a 38-0 win to secure first in the northern pool.
2H Rallies Producing Texas Wins
Texas is one game away from winning the Southwest DI conference title. The Longhorns are 3-0 and have one more match against Texas Tech this weekend, thus ending home-and-away series with its two conference mates. The league victor will move onto the fall DI championship, the details of which have yet to be released.
Towson Ties, Shocks Salisbury
Towson has struggled the last few seasons. After an incident with the university in fall 2013, the women’s team was placed on probation. The club was still allowed to play its matrix matches in the DII Capital conference; however, the coach was fired and certain strictures were placed on the team.
