The United States Military Academy women's team won the unofficial series between service academies thanks to a 29-7 defeat of Air Force Friday night under the lights at Anderson Rugby Complex.
Kate Roose got the scoring started in the second minute, with Carissa Pekny suceeding on the conversion to put Army up 7-0 early on.
Scoring would halt for nearly 30 minutes of play before Pekny added a conversion to put the Black Knights up 12-0. Just two minutes later, Tranelle Patterson would break through the Air Force defense for a score, with Pekny again adding the conversion, to send Army into the break with the 19-0 advantage.
In teh 45th minute, Roose shined again, putting Army up 24-0.
Allison Wilson closed out the scoring for Army in the 64th minute. Air Force would add a try and a conversion, but to no avail as Army walked away with the 29-7 victory over its service academy rival.
With the win, the women improve to 4-5 on the season, with an unblemished record against service academy rivals. Army defeated Navy earlier this season, 61-20 in Annapolis, Md.
The game was the final regular season contest for Army.
