Cardinals Latest - VMI, NC State, Radford
VMI, Radford, and NC State all won in the opening weekend in the Cardinals Collegiate DII Conference as the season kicked off.
For NC State it was a new competition for the Wolfpack as they moved into the Cardinals from the defunct (for 15s) ACRL. NC State ran out 40-13 winners over a solid Old Dominion team which finished 4-0-1 in last year’s conference season.
Empire Conference Looks Tight After Week 1
Defending Empire Conference champs Syracuse edged up-and-coming Fordham this past weekend 20-12 in the opening weekend of conference play.
That result, along with Stony Brook’s 17-15 over SUNY Binghamton and Colgate’s wild 57-36 win over SUNY Brockport, shows that the conference will be a close one this season.
BC Impresses in Win over Dartmouth
Boston College’s 22-17 over Dartmouth shouldn’t necessarily be thought of as a surprise.
After all, BC downed Dartmouth a year ago, too, in an early-season contest. But the result has resonated somewhat because of Dartmouth’s strong finish last spring. The Eagles, going into the ECRC regular season starting next week, have to feel good about the result, and indeed they do.
WIIL - Whitewater Cruises, UNI Iffy
WIIL defending champs UW-Whitewater picked up where they left off Sunday, defeating Marquette 70-10, but there are still some conference contenders to worry about.
Southern DII Latest - Furman Wins, Wake, UNC
(Austin Willis) - Furman University hammered Elon 62-15 to improve to 2-0 in the Southern Collegiate Conference this weekend.
