NCR D1 Fall 2023 Rankings Week 2
Wow what an interesting week in Men's college rugby.
While our top two were not in the thick of it—Brown played a preseason game where they were heavily favored, and St. Bonaventure played their alumni—many others were. This big game so far was Notre Dame College at Thomas More, and NDC came away with a quite impressive road win and they, of course, move up.
Liberty D1 Pecking Order Already Coming Together
It’s going to be a fun time in the Liberty Conference this season.
Yes it’s true that Brown is the defending NCR D1 champion, returns several of the players from that team, and appears to be ready to reload. But other teams are working their way forward, too.
What We Saw at Babson vs AIC
Lightning and thunder plagued much of the rugby throughout the Northeast over the weekend, but with a little luck and some patience several of the games did indeed get played, including a very interesting non-conference meeting between top small-college team Babson, and NCR D1 side AIC.
Good Weekend for Rugby East Teams
Rugby East teams had a solid weekend playing against teams outside their conference.
Yes Navy and Army both lost to Trinity, the rugby team for Dublin University, but the scorelines, competitive at 36-14 and 38-7.
Penn State Over Clemson
Penn State put Clemson to the sword 51-12 Saturday.
For the Nittany Lions this was a nice step forward for a squad that is hoping to find improvement.
Head Coach Justin Hundley (who was coaching against his former clubmate Troy Hall), was most pleased with the team unity.
