UCLA defeated Saint Mary’s 22-12 Saturday in Los Angeles, shutting out the Gaels in the second half to preserve a huge victory for the Bruins.
Both teams were coming off close games in which they felt they gave up far too many points—Saint Mary’s had won 43-38 over Cal Poly, while UCLA had dropped a 47-41 decision to Central Washington.

In one of the more evenly-matched high-scoring games in D1A, Central Washington pulled out a dramatic 47-41 win over UCLA Saturday in Southern California.
It's common to say a game was back-and-forth, but this one really was. Teams would answer try-for-try, both got into penalty trouble, and there was plenty of emotion, too.
UCLA Holds Off Arizona in a Wild One
UCLA and Arizona clashed in a really close and exciting game Saturday between two former PAC teams.
Both are playing as independents now, but this is still a strong rivalry and the games are frequently close. In this case it certainly was, as the Bruins held off Arizona 30-27 in LA.
