GRR: Yale
Yale pulled off a big win over the weekend in Liberty D1AA, beating previously undefeated Columbia 34-14 to move to 4-1.
While UMass sits 4-0, and have won a close one over Yale, the Bulldogs moved into first while the Minutemen were idle. And that's a good signal about where we are in this conference. Yale has played a bunch of tough teams, and has beaten almost all of them.
Yale University rugby player Olivia Sally has been selected to receive a Marshall Scholarship to study for her Master's at Oxford University in England.
Sally will pursue post-grad degrees in Child Development and Education as well as in Public Policy.
Rugby at Ivy League colleges has been in the news quite a bit with rivalries heating up in NIRA and also te Liberty NCR D1, but there's another Ivy program to keep an eye on—Yale.
The Yale men are now 3-0 in the Liberty DIAA Conference, having beaten Rhode Island this past weekend.
That victory put the Bulldogs atop the conference having also beaten Colgate and Columbia.
AIC opened its inaugural DiA season by defeating DIAA and Ivy League squad Yale 38-19.
Center Filippo Banzato opened the scoring four minutes in, capping off an attacking move from a lineout. Lock Malik Walker rambled in from midfield and then Bonzato neeted his second for a 19-0 lead after 30. Yale replied to make it 19-7 at the break.
In a dramatic game in the Ivy League, Yale came back to beat Cornell Saturday in Ithaca, while Dartmouth had to work for a win and Brown won big.
In the opening two minutes of the game, Yale hooker Bryan Herbert was red-carded. That call put Cornell on the front foot and in the first quarter of the game they ran in three converted tries to lead 19-0.
