Eagle WNT Named to Face France
Eagle WNT Named to Face France
USA 15s WNT Coach Pete Steinberg has named his starting lineup to face France on Friday in Salt Lake City.
The lineup includes 2015-16 MA Sorensen Award-Winner Hope Rogers at tighthead prop. The recent Penn State grad will have a crucial role setting the tone in the front row. A Sorensen Award finalists, Saskia Morgan of Brown, makes her USA debut on the wing.
There are other debutants, too, with flanker Christiane Pheil earning her first cap, and Alyvia Washington playing her way into a start at lock. Look out also for Jamila Reinhardt (see more on here here) on the bench. Head Coach Pete Steinberg spoke with Goff Rugby Report last month about his desire for a more physical, more powerful team. And he's looked to some younger talents - Jordan Gray, Pheil, Washington, and Cheta Emba on the wing - to get the job done.
Veteran Stacey Bridges, who has 18 caps for the USA, will captain the side.
The Eagles kick off their match against France at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City, Utah Friday at 5pm Mountain Time, and will be broadcast on The Rugby Channel. Coverage begins at 3pm Mountain with England v Canada.
