GRR: Jihad Khabir
Marcus Tupuola has been named Goff Rugby Report’s DIAA MVP Back for the fall of 2016.
The Notre Dame College fullback was a critical piece of an excellent Falcons season, during which NDC went 11-0 against intercollegiate competition and won the DIAA fall championship.
The East Coast Rugby Conference - ECRC - has named it's all conference selections.
Naturally, AIC and BC, which both logged a 7-0-1 record, dominate the selections, with 21 of the 30 1st and 2nd team players.
While AIC leads the ECRC, there’s still plenty of opportunity for other teams to catch up.
That chase is basically between NEC and Boston College. NEC sits at 3-1 and BC is 3-0, so this would be a battle for 2nd (at the moment).
We use the term Gamebreaker to mean a rugby player who has made an impact, but it seems especially relevant when we talk about Jihad Khabir.
In a game that was very close between New England College and American International College, Khabir scored two brilliant tries to blow open the game and ensure a win for AIC.
AIC started their ECRC season with a hard-won victory over a tough NEC squad.
American International had their longtime Head Coach Josh Macy move to Lindenwood, and are operating under previous assistant, and current interim Head Coach Rob Guiry.
