GRR: California Collegiate Conference
One of the games to watch this weekend in college rugby is one you might not have expected to worry about way back in November.
Cal State Long Beach plays San Diego State on Saturday and both teams lost, and lost big, in the opening weeks of conference play. And, yes, they were playing the likes of Saint Mary's and Cal Poly, but, in a way, that was the point.
We have just a handful of teams left in the chae for a CRAA D1AA title.
As we've mentioned before, Sam Houston State and Iowa State are already in the semifinals held during the CRAA Finals Weekend May 2-4 in Indianapolis.
Despite not really getting close to winning their conference, some California D1A teams reached important milestones this season.
We find out a lot in this week's D1AA action.
D1AA Gamebreakers From February
Every team in the California D1A has now won a game.
At the beginning of the season the inside info on the teams was that two rebuilding teams—Cal State Long Beach and San Diego State—would struggle. And they did, at first. But over the weeks these teams were the most likely to improve markedly, too.
