GRR: California Collegiate Conference
While there were only five DIA games on the slate this week, they all had a lot to say about where teams are in the competition.
Cal looked very impressive in defeating Central Washington 48-19 on Friday night. More on the game here>>
Saint Mary's took control of 1st place in the California Conference after a convincing 60-5 win over Grand Canyon Saturday night.
UC Santa Barbara logged their first California Conference game since landing new Head Coach Neil Foote, and came away with a 36-12 win over UC Davis.
UCSB has already played, losing to Cal, and then last week's game against San Diego State was called off. Foote was pleased to see what his team has learned since that Cal game.
The California Conference is looking to be, in the early days, more competitive than it has been in recent years.
The 29-24 scoreline between Grand Canyon and Cal Poly shows that, and while Saint Mary's does still appear to be far ahead of the pack, and pack is bunching.
Grand Canyon managed to pull out a win late against Cal Poly a day after beating UC Davis.
D1A teams are getting active with 13 games involving at least one D1A team, and seven conference games.
