UC Davis defeated a Sacramento State team that had started well in some warmup games.

The halfback combo of Donald Ng and Ryan Morimoto accounted for 23 of the Aggies’ 38 points in their 38-29 victory.

Ng was 5-for-5 on conversions and added a penalty goal while Morimoto scored two tries, with center Antoine Oudeard. hooker Dante Brown, and reserve Joaquin Lugo all adding one try each.

UCLA won 60-12 over San Diego State, while Saint Mary’s won big over UC Santa Barbara, paced by 33 points from wing Iosefa Toia’ivao.

As they usually do, Saint Mary’s loads up some games early, and while they might think they’re rusty, the Gaels are pretty smooth for playing in the fall. Toia’ivao has scored 66 points in three matches.

UCLA is a new team in the California, and the Bruins have taken the same approach as Saint Mary’s, playing three games so far and going 3-0.

We’ve got four more games left this calendar year before everyone takes a break. The Gaels will play Santa Clara, which will be the first conference game for the Broncos, and San Diego State plays San Diego. Cal Poly gets their first runout in conference play, facing Sac State on December 6 and Long Beach State on December 13.

Right now it seems like UCLA and Saint Mary’s will top their regions, but Cal Poly remains a tough nut to crack (witness their solid showing in a loss to BYU), while Long Beach State, two-point losers to UCLA on November 8, might well push in the South
