Who Is Chasing Cedar Falls in Iowa?

Lilly South is a high-scoring player for Waverly Shell Rock.

Cedar Falls, Waverly Shell Rock, Southeast Polk, and Central Springs are the top four teams in the Iowa Youth Rugby Girls 7s after this week's results.

But Central Springs is surging after two shutout wins on Monday, 31-0 over West Des Moines, and 34-0 over Mason City.

They are looking to run down Fort Dodge, which won a key game over Norwalk on Monday.

But it's still a chase for everyone who isn't Cedar Falls. This week Cedar Falls outscored their two opponents 100-0, defeating Urbandale and North Polk.

The points difference Cedar Falls boasts an average score of about 48-2—they have shut out every opponent save two.

The most points scored against them is 12 by Waverly Shell Rock and clearly they are the #2 team in the league. WSR won twice on Monday, beating a very good Fort Dodge team 43-5 behind two tries from Molly Armstrong and then 38-5 over another strong side in SE Polk thanks to two tries from Mya Behrends and 18 points from Lilly Stough.

Over the two days Stough slotted eight conversions and touched down three tries for 31 points—little surprise she has received a USA U18 camp callup. Behrends and Armstrong both scored three tries.
