Nine games feature in NCR DI, and we might find out a bit more about who could challenge for a title.

ARC

Walsh is GRR's #1-ranked team at the moment, and kept that ranking thanks to a 20-14 win over St. Bonaventure in which they got a little bit of luck. But then again, we have talked about how great it is that the games are close in the ARC.

How close? Seven games played, and five were within a try.

So why is Walsh currently 5th in the ARC? Well, because they have only played the one game. Walsh has to back up that game with a hosting of Wheeling. And while Wheeling has lost twice, they can score. And they have lost both of their games by less than a try.

So they could have worked to be a try better, right?

Kutztown vs Belmont Abbey could well be a game for a playoff spot in NCR D1. Both are playing better than they were in 2025.

Liberty

Fordham is a good 1-3 team and Siena is 2-1. Both are chasing the upper echelon of the Liberty (Brown, Dartmouth, Fairfield). Two of those teams are idle and the other has an out-of-conference game.

So here's a chance for one of these teams to make up some ground.

Big Rivers

There are questions all over with the Big Rivers. Marian vs Indiana Tech is huge this week and, we have to say, we're pretty sure Marian is the favorite here.

Indiana Tech started really well this year and then were upended by Aquinas 32-29—an Aquinas team that beat Michigan, pushed Davenport close, and then beat IT. They might be a dark horse in the conference.

"We've had a decent start to the season and I'm pleased with where we're at, but we're certainly not getting ahead of ourselves," Head Coach Lance Hohaia told GRR. "There's still plenty of improvement in this group, and we're focused on continuing to build as we head into the business end of the season."

Liam Inman has led the team well and is consistently one of the best Aquinas players. Gavin Thompson and Sam Whitmore are consistent attacking threats. Grad student Jacob Easterling is coming back to the lineup this weekend.

"One of the really encouraging aspects of this year's squad is the level of internal competition," said Hohaia. "We've got good depth across a number of positions, and several of our freshmen are starting to find their feet and push for opportunities, which is exactly what we want to see."

Aquinas has a good shot is moving to the top, or near the top, of this conference with a win.

Non-Conference

Thomas More takes on Louisville, which will be an interesting challenge for both, and Iowa Central takes on Wisconsin, and the same goes for this game.

The big non-conference game is the Scholars Cup match between Brown and UCLA. We've had one game in the six-match round-robin, with the scholars at Dartmouth defeating the scholars at Notre Dame. Brown at UCLA is the actual purpose of this competition.

The Bruins won a close one over Michigan earlier this year, and Brown would then rightly feel like they are favorites here. But cross-country travel isn't easy.
