(Canada 7s Release) The Canada Sevens Organizing Committee for the HSBC Canada Men’s Seven’s Vancouver announced today that in response to continued demand, it will be releasing additional ticket inventory beginning at 10:00am this Saturday, March 5.  An additional 5000 general admission tournament passes in a select section of BC Place’s upper bowl are being released to ensure the opportunity for all rugby fans and sports enthusiasts to experience the excitement of the men’s rugby sevens tournament in its first year in Canada.

Pricing for General Admission tickets remains at $89 and $82 for group (10 or more) General Admission.  All additional inventory is available as tournament passes or day purchases.  Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, and prices include taxes however do not include applicable fees.

“While we were thrilled to have achieved a lower bowl sell-out in only our first year, we have been hearing loud and clear that ticket demand has exceeded ticket supply,” said Bill Cooper, CEO Canada Sevens. “We’ve been hard at work with BC Place and Ticketmaster to put the fan experience first. And we are incredibly excited to be offering a solution that opens up additional space and provides general admission ticketholders with more options for seating while delivering a world-class atmosphere for all attendees.  We want to make sure that everyone who wants to experience this inaugural event has the opportunity to do so and enjoys a fan experience that delivers the kind of infectious excitement that Sevens Rugby has become known for.”

The HSBC Canada Men’s Sevens Vancouver tournament, scheduled for March 12th and 13th at BC Place Stadium, sold out on February 25th.  With ticket sales capping out at 28,000 per day, the two day tournament sold 56,000 tickets in total, resulting in the largest anticipated crowd ever for a rugby event in Canadian history.  Over the past two weeks, demand for additional inventory has continued with a growing waitlist for tickets.

As part of ensuring a world class experience for fans, Canada Sevens organizers have also announced today the release of the Canada Sevens app to help fans navigate their way through the HSBC Canada Sevens Vancouver Rugby Tournament.  The app is designed to provide users with tournament and team information, stadium and city maps, and updates on events around town that are contributing to the weekend festival.  The app is free to download on iOS and Android, and is currently available for download in the app store.

“Fans will be able to plan out their weekend schedule by selecting personalized game reminders, keep track of game results, and get to know teams and players,” continued Cooper. “Our objective is to ensure fans have all the information they need at their fingertips to truly experience all elements of the tournament. We are thrilled to be able to further enhance our fans’ experience with this tool and we can’t wait to deliver to them the world-class weekend of entertainment they deserve.”

The HSBC Canada Sevens will feature 16 of the world’s top men’s rugby sevens teams and will be fifth stop in a ten-stop world tour as part of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. All 16 teams are in action this weekend at the USA Sevens in Las Vegas before arriving at Vancouver International Airport on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
