There is still plenty to play for in the Girls brackets at the NAI 7s, but right now things look good for a couple of the local teams.

The Utah Lions Academy team blasted through the first three games of a seven-team Elite field, knocking off Rocky Mountain, Atlantis, and Upright Rugby fairly convincingly. The Lions have played (and won) are the World United Games and were also in the Vancouver International 7s. They clearly looked athletic, and played with unity.

Still, the ions had some issues with Upright from Canada, falling behind 12-7 at halftime before scoring two tries in the second half to win it. Then early in the second half Alex Sedrick sold an outrageous dummy and broke through for the try under the posts. Then a turnover in the ruck followed by some nice ball movement opened up some space for Charity Tenney to score the clincher.

The round-robin games continue on Saturday with the top two teams facing off in the final.

In the Girls Open, no one is perfect, as the top two teams, the Mambas and Utah Barbarians, tied 21-21. Coastal Dragons started off well but were upended by the Mambas. Round-Robin play continues on Saturday.
