It was a good showing for the USA Men's 7s team on the opening day of the Coral Coast 7s in Fiji.

The USA had a close one with Chennai Bulls, with tries from Orrin Bizer and Pita Vi getting them a 14-10 win. The conversions were crucial here.

That set them up for a pool match with the McDonald's Mike Friday Selects, which was a team of former international players ... some very well-known players. The Eagles did very well here.

Bizer, Ben Broselle, Lucas Lacamp, Adam Channel, and Jack Wendling all scored tries as the USA team won 31-14.

The USA brought some significant physicality to their games, and while everyone has to be concerned about the elusiveness and speed of many of the Fijian teams, the USA has their own special talents.

Also 2-0 on Day One: Fiji Babasm Ravuka Shawks, New Zealand Fijian Cavaliers, Yaro Chiefs, and in Pool F two teams, EHub International Sydney Fijians and Jacks of Fiji Devo Babas each won both of their games.

Next up for the USA is Axekkerate Dominion Brothers, which beat Chennai but lost to Mike Friday's team.
