Weather has forced one match in Florida’s D1AA league to move to another weekend, but two are hoping to get the games in if, as the poet Tom Petty says, “those orange groves don’t freeze.”

Which they might.

Still on the slate Florida State looks to go 2-0 with a match vs Central Florida. Florida looks to rebound from their loss to FSU with a win over FAU. The Seminoles and the Gators are probably favored in those.
In California, Sunday sees Arizona State against a tough Claremont Colleges side in Pasadena. That’s an important game in the Southern side of the California Conference.

Everything is at stake in the North. Cal Poly Humboldt was gnawed on by American River last week and won’t get a chance to rebound from that in their first foray into D1AA—Stanford sustained too many injuries and won’t make the trip north and will forfeit, unfortunately.

Entering Week 2, San Francisco State reports improved roster numbers and is set to face Fresno State, with both programs seeking their first victory of the year.

San Jose State vs Chico State is a clash of two 1-0 sides.

But perhaps the one to watch is American River hosting Nevada-Reno. UNR slammed Stanford last week in impressive fashion behind Joe Maquire’s four tries and two from Reilly Stringer, while ARC beat Humboldt.

ARC is coming off back to back Norcal Championships in its first two years, and what that also means is that there’s some good institutional knowledge within the program about what it takes to get over the hump. UNR is talented and has numbers, and should be a handful.
