This week sees the next USA Rugby Talent ID camp held at the Rhinos Rugby High-Performance facility in San Clemente, Calif.
This camp will be somewhat unique in that Rhinos has some additional facilities on offer.
“I think the what impresses me about Rhinos is our assets,” said Todd Clever, the San Clemente Rhinos General Manager, who played for and captained the USA more than any other player.
. “It’s pretty unbelievable. This is a professional environment and I think it’s going to be a great experience for the players as they see what we have to offer.”
Clever, who also runs his foundation that helps provide organizations and athletes with resources to grow the game, said the Rhinos High Performance Program's hosting of the talent ID camp was a no-brainer.
“Any time there’s an opportunity to help identify high-level players and help them, we will raise our hand,” he said.
Rhinos can help replicate what it’s like to be an international or professional player, and, he Clever added, the facilities at the Rhinos San Clemente facility exceed those of some Major League Rugby teams.
“What we all want is for rugby to be better in the USA,” he said.
So the hosting at Rhinos fits pretty well with USA Rugby’s Talent ID search. After all, Rhinos already has its Academy and National Development program at San Clemente. And, as Clever said, the facilities are high-level.
