Top Kansas Teams Win Well on the Road
The top teams in Kansas, St. Martin's and St. Thomas Aquinas, both put down strong results against tough teams over the weekend.
St. Martin's visited 901 in Germantown, Tenn. and came away 44-7 winners.
Facing an athletic and physically strong 901 side St. martin's had to work hard to cap off their scoring chances. But they did that, taking a 25-0 lead into the break.
In the second half 901 held possession for a good portion of that 35 minutes and it required St. Martin's to hold the line and make a few goalline stands.
Meanwhile, for Kingfishers scrumhalf Robbie Ritson scored three tries and played strong throughout in is decision-making despite this being only his second game wearing the #9 jersey. Colin Egger, Sam Egger, and Berkeley Nordhus also scored tries for St. Martin's.
St. Thomas Aquinas, the main rival for St. Martin's in Kansas, also logged an impressive victory, beating Oklahoma's Bixby 37-12.
Liam Delaney was player of the game for Aquinas while Owen Charlton was also very good.
Joe Best's work at center and that of Cooper Coats and Nathan Dreiling in the forwards led the Saints.
This sets up the big clash between the two teams. Aquinas and Kingfishers are set to meet up March 6.
