Marian and Thomas More move on to the Big Rivers final after both won semifinals this weekend.

Thomas More, the #1 seed from the East defeated Iowa Central 53-7 in fairly dominant fashion. For the Saints this was an indication of their improvement after they started the season with a loss to Kutztown.

Their last two games with a win over Marian and a close loss to Queens showed they were getting stronger.

"We are executing as a team and the speed of our attack improves each game," said Thomas More Head Coach John Fox. "Something clicked against Queens that has given our team confidence. Like everybody this time of year we have injuries, but our reserve players are filling in well so we aren’t missing a beat."

For Marian, being a #2 team on the road at West #1 Aquinas, the tast was more difficult, but this hard-hitting Knights side was up to the task.

Head Coach John Harley credited his defense with the 22-10 victory. Marian constant put Aquinas under pressure, but it wasn't the same when the Knights had the ball.

"I never felt we were put under pressure," Harley told GRR. "Their points came off our errors— two penalty kicks and their try was a blocked exit kick, which we poorly executed."

So now we have a rematch of a Big Rivers East game played October 4 that Thomas More won 48-38. The winner is the conference champion.
