St. Mary's opened up their season this weekend with a convincing 50-7 victory over San Francisco State.

The Gaels also won the B-side game as the two-time defending DIA champions look ahead to a very challenging schedule that includes, of course, California Conference opponents San Diego State, UCSB, Santa Clara, and Cal Poly.

As has been their habit in the past few years, the Gaels will face BYU and Utah, as they did last year they will play those teams twice. The annual clash with Cal is back, and then St. Mary's has also added DIA power Lindenwood, and PAC-12 schools Arizona and Arizona State. Before all of that, Head Coach Tim O'Brien repeats his habit of testing his charges with games against big-time clubs Olympic Club and SFGG.

And then add to that a week-long tour of New Zealand, and you've got 16 weeks of very high-level competition, and that's before they even enter the playoffs.
