Southeastern Louisiana continued its winning ways with a 71-17 defeat of Spring Hill College over the weekend.
Early penalty trouble game the Spring Hill Badgers good field position and with the vocal Spring Hill fans surrounding Dorn Field, they rode the momentum.
All of the Lions' penalties finally led to a Spring Hill try.
But Southeastern Louisiana has been showing a hard-nosed work ethic this season and they came right back to answer the try. With the forwards working well and getting possession in scrums and lineouts, and adding to that with poaches in the tackles, SLU started to build on that. Hafltime had the score 33-10.
The Lions brought in the reserves in the second half and by midway in the second half, under the leadership of Allen Pennington and Felix Hamilton-Marino, SLU had passed the mid-century mark and Spring Hill. The Badgers also got into discipline problems and were yellow-carded four times. That kind of killed any hope of edging close and three late tries made it 71-10. The game finished for the Badgers scoring a well executed 40-yard drive and score to make it 71-17.
Southeastern Louisiana have finished their regular season undefeated at 5-0, scoring 258 points and allowing only 92.
Next up is the Deep South Championship Tournament in Hammond, La. on October 29. After that the NCR national playoffs will provide a new test for the Lions.
