Some Action For Americans In Overseas Leagues

With games in the European Cup and European Challenge Cup were called off because COVID is rearing its head again, we do have some updates on American rugby players around the world.

French Pro D2

Deion Mikesell continues to get work with Carcassone. And while his club didn't win—they lost 37-13 to Colomiers—the former Lindenwood University All American did start on the wing.

French Top 14

Both Lyon (Joe Taufete'e) and Toulouse (David Ainu'u) are 2-0 in what's left of the European Cup. Toulouse is 1st in the Top 14 with Lyon 4th now. Montpellier (Titi Lamositele) is struggling at 13th.

Gallagher Premiership

AJ MacGinty helped Sale to another win back on January 8 (20-13), and he is 2nd in the Premiership now with 73 points. Greg Peterson continues a really strong season for Newcastle, and started again at lock on January 8 as the Falcons beat Gloucester 22-10. Peterson is among the team leaders in tackles and lineout wins every game; he's usually their top lineout target. He's also been key in the Falcons winning ball and maintaining momentum going forward.

Currie Cup

Ruben de Haas and the Toyota Cheetahs wrapped up their Currie Cup campaign last week with a win. The young USA scrumhalf has been getting more playing time, usually coming off the bench and, no surprise, making an impact.

Oxford

Recently-retired USA captain Blaine Scully is going for his master's degree at Oxford University, and former Eagle Andrew Durutalo is reportedly also making that move. They will join current Eagle lock  Nick Civetta at Oxford where they hope to get some games in this coming term.
