Southern California’s second HS season comes to a close over the next three weeks, with two divisions of quarterfinals starting this week.
The SoCal U18 club season has been split into Gold and Green conferences, with the Tri-Counties conference straddling the two.
Tri-Counties champion San Luis Obispo will join seven Gold teams in the Gold playoffs. SLO, undefeated in the Tri-Counties, will face undefeated Los Angeles in a game that will end up saying a lot about how the Tri-Counties competition has come along. LA, bolstered by some significant talent - Ian Hall, Aaron Kiefer, Alex Maimot to name three - is an imposing opponent.
South Bay takes on Back Bay in a matchup of a #3 and #2 team from their conference, and the San Diego Young Aztecs face a Santa Monica team that started off slowly, but finished strong.
Fallbrook, which won the South, plays Pasadena.
While LA v SLO is a pick ‘em game, but Back Bay is probably favored over South Bay, Santa Monica is favored over the Young Aztecs - barely, and Fallbrook is favored over Pasadena.
In the playoff of the Green Conferences, undefeated Empire and undefeated Dragons are favored.
