Kutztown vs Brown.
Kutztown vs Brown was one of those close ones.
Author: Alex Goff

The weather wasn't especially cooperative, but the CRC 7s kicked off with plenty of action.

The Men's Premier ran mostly to form. The closest game was one of the earliest; AIC got by Marian 24-19 in overtime. It was a rough result for Marian, who played very well and had a turnover from a knock-on right at the end of full time and looked ready to race in ... but no advantage was given and full time was called.

Of course there was also Dartmouth, who scraped by Michigan 17-12 thanks to two Ethan Knight tries. Knight then scored twice in the second round against AIC before Richard Wofford scored on a quick-tap to win it in OT.

Not done, Wofford was the hero again, beating defending champs St. Bonaventure by scoring the first try and the last try. The second one secured a dramatic 10-7 win for the Big Green and a place in the semifinals.

Lasha Asanidze's two tries vaulted Kutztown past Indiana in a bit of a surprise quarterfinal. Wheeling fairly breezed past their opposition with Shadreck Mandaza once again a try-scoring menace.

Their speed was too much for Indiana Tech, Utah State, and Belmont Abbey.

Walsh looked solid with Ayabonga Mkhokeli scoring tries for them, but they ran into a hot Notre Dame side, and the Irish won 24-17 thanks to two Zak Banton tries.

So in the Premier Bracket it's Notre Dame vs Dartmouth in one semi and Wheeling vs Kutztown in the other.

In D1AA, West Chester featured a bunch of players who have been playing together for several years ... back before their high school days. It showed as the Rams beat Oregon State and Northeastern to make the semis.

Luigi Carleo scored three against Oregon State. Aidan Malley scored twice against the Beavers and equalled that feat in a tight win over the Huskies.

Louisville blasted by both of their opponents to make the semis South Carolina, however, needed a last-minute try from Charlie Dwyer to eliminate Western Michigan 12-7.

And the fourth semifinalist is Texas A&M. In their opening round match with Babson the Aggies trailed 15-7 with two minutes left. But tries from Neel Menon and Lucas Martineli pulled their prospects out of the fire for a dramatic 19-5.

A&M then took care of NC State to make the last four.
