After Sunday's loss to South Africa in the 3rd/4th game, USA Coach Mike Friday said "I hate to lose, but sometimes that's how you learn."

After a torrid start to the tournament, the Eagles fell on hard times on Sunday. But still they finished 4th, moving up in the Sevens World Series standings. Fiji won 35-19, beating New Zealand in the final.

"It means a lot for us. We've talked about improving our defense and discipline and today it has paid off," said captain Osea Kolinisau, who missed the final through injury. "One of the strengths of the team is that we are in this together and we proved that this weekend."

By finishing 3rd, South Africa held on to 1st in the standings, but its a close three-team race between South Africa, New Zealand, and Fiji.

The USA moved up from 8th to 7th. France moved past Samoa to 9th. Canada didn't move up, but did themselves a world of good.
