Rugby Washington - Contenders Look to Week 2
Rugby Washington - Contenders Look to Week 2
Week two in Rugby Washington and Budd Bay hosts Eastside while Chuckanut and Liberty are on the road.
All of these teams could well think of themselves as contenders, and in Washington, things can be so tight that everyone will believe firmly that they have a shot. Last week's results included Rainier Highlanders handing Chuckanut a soul-searching 36-10 defeat. The defending champs Rainier get the week off, but have started off strong. Liberty, meanwhile - the team that so often is talked of as the favorite - had their game called off and so will start on the road at Seattle.
Chuckanut gets to rebound against Tacoma (game v Liberty last week postponed). For Budd Bay, Saturday's opening day was a pretty gratifying one, with a 29-10 victory over Seattle, and big wins for their JVs and 7th/8th-graders. Captain and No. 8 Ivan Pula was player of the game and the Barbarians showed some pace out wide to go along with their power in the pack.
Donovan Tuiaana, Eric Roth, Jordan Ferrer, Jeremiah Tuiagamoa-Tavai, and Skylar Sooto all scored tries for Budd Bay.
It's very, very early days.
