Western Washington University Men's Rugby has signed on Adam Roberts as their new paid Head Coach.
A native of White Rock, BC, Roberts was a student of WWU Director of Rugby Paul Horne for many years. An elite-level baseball and hockey player, Roberts was persuaded by Horne to try rgby and never looked back. He coached with WWU as a volunteer coach for several years until the COVID pandemic made traveling across borders too difficult.
Roberts holds a Master of Physical Education specializing in Rugby Development and a Level 4 coaching certification from World Rugby. He has worked with the Canadian National Youth Program, where he led the Canadian U20 team to three World Trophy Championships.
Prior to joining Western Washington University, Roberts served as the head coach of the Earl Marriott Secondary senior boys rugby team. During his tenure, he led the team to numerous victories and developed several players who have advanced to professional rugby. Notably, Earl Marriott has produced seven players who have represented the Canadian national team, with four of them starting in a test match against the USA.
