Rivalry Time As Colorado Faces Colorado State
It's a bit of a rivalry weekend in DIA and DIAA college rugby with several schools that have a bit of a history going at it; one of those rivalries will be revisited in the Rocky Mountains as Colorado takes on Colorado State.
CSU is 4-1 in the Rocky Mountain, with the last game a bit of a tight one, 26-21 over Utah Valley. The Rams have also beaten Utah State, New Mexico, and Wyoming, but lost toBYU (which isn't a surprise). Scott Niles has been kicking well and leads the team with 38 points scored in conference play, while Nicholas Bauer has four tries.
Led by a very strong back row of Joe Kamara, Joe Rusert-Cuddy, and Daniel Trump, the Rams are looking very solid.
But Colorado isn't too bad, either. CU is 3-1, with two very close wins in the last few weeks, 19-18 over Utah Valley, and then a pretty impressive shutout of Air Force. The Colorado backline has showed well so far, with center Soren Heitmann playing a good all-arund game, and wings Charlie Quinn and Kevin Banky dangerous. No. 8 Angus Skinner is the team's co-leader in tries, while lock Nick Edridge has been a force in the pack.
It's a bragging rights game, but this is also all about who comes out of the Rocky Mountain behind BYU. There's a chance for some D1A rankings love with the game, and this promises to be a tight one.
