Three HS All-Star tournaments are in full swing.
In the South, North Carolina and Tennessee were 2-0 in the Boys Varsity pool play. Tennessee needed a one-point win over Okapi to get there. NC beat Okapi and Louisiana. That set up the semis, and North Carolina defeated Illinois 31-0 to make the final, while Tennessee held off ARE 14-5.
So NC and Tennessee will play for the cup, and ARE and Illinois will play for third. In the consolation bracket, two winless teams, South Florida LIghtning and Okapi won their consolation semis to make the final.

In the Northeast RCT, the rain made it for wet going. The tournament in New Jersey does not have a knockout round, and will just be a series of games. But so far Celtic Elite Ohio and Conneciticut are 2-0 in Boys Varsity. Connecticut and Pennsylvania lead in the Boys JV, while New Jersey (no surprise) lead the pack among the Girls Varsity.
Celtic Elite slammed Virginia 2 70-0. Colin Sustersic (Brunswick), scored two tries, and Nate Hensel (Hudson), Rafe Lewis (Walsh Jesuit), Joe Hawthorne (Hudson), Alex Chura (St Ignatius), Aaron Tofil (Brunswick), and James Bollinger (Brunswick) all scored tries. Conor Forrestal of St. Edward kicked three conversions, while St. Ed standout Jack Bradfield added two conversions, and four tries.
Bradfield kept up the scoring touch against a tough Rugby PA team, touching down three times and converting all four tries (Eric Steinmetz of Avon scored the other) to win 28-21.

In the Rocky Mountain Challenge, the game of the weekend might have been the first game. The West Valley Warriors edged defending champs EIRA SoCal 15-10. Due to the format of the four-team Pool A, this meant EIRA SoCal couldn't even play for 2nd in the pool and will now have to settle for 9th (if all goes well on Sunday). The Warriors slammed Missouri to advance. Rugby Texas won two close games to go 2-0 and win their pool, and EIRA Midwest put in a pretty polished performance. Wisconsin was solid, too. All of those teams went 2-0 and will play in the Cup Semis.
The EIRA teams looked very strong in the Boys JV, while Atavus Academy Utah has been superb in the Girls Varsity bracket.
