This past weekend during the US Rugby Foundation Hall of Fame awards event, the Prusmack Award winners were recognized.
The Prusmack Award is given to the top collegiate 7s players in the nation—one for a men's player, and one for a women's player.
This year, and, actually, not for the first time, both winners come from Life University.
Hattie Greenwood was the captain of Life as they won the CRAA Premier 7s. Greenwood was the scrumhalf and field general for a team with plenty of talent. However, with Bella Vogel off playing for the USA, and injuries taking down top forward Lissa Salisbury and leader and flyhalf Liberty Benitez, running the show fell to Greenwood.
She was outstanding, keeping the pace moving and keeping her team focused in a series of challenging matches.
Greenwood said that playing for Life has taught her to avoid relying on just herself. It is that, along with her faith and the support of her family that has driven her.
