Playoff Spots Still Up For Grabs in WIIL
Heading towards the final games before the conference tournaments. The WIIL conference is starting to take shape and which teams will compete in the conference playoffs in Cottage Groove, Wisc. is becoming more clear.
In the South Division Illinois State stands at the top of the division with a record of 3-0 and 15 stadnings points. Close behind is new addition to the South division, Marquette, with a record of 3-0 but with just 14 points.
This Saturday these two teams will clash at Illinois State to see who will hold the top spot in the division going into the last games of the season.
“We used our bye week to allow players to rest up and get healthy. During practice, we focused on all aspects of our game to be prepared to play Marquette,” said ISU captain Josh Uthe.
This weekend will also see Loyola face UIC. UIC looking for their first win of the season. On the other side Loyola, is still looking to hold onto a top-four spot to reach the playoffs.
“We know Loyola are very talented and tough competitor. As for our team we are focused on getting better as a team and correcting our mistakes, hopefully we can come out with a win this week in a Chicago rivalry game,” said UIC Captain Quinton Jackson.
In the North division, we will see another game of two unbeaten teams. Northern Michigan will face defending national champion UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks had had no issues scoring points, scoring 25 tries in just two games.
NMU Makes Statement As UWW Looms
Also in the North, UW-Stout will face UW-Platteville. Stout holding on to their fourth-place spot in the division with Platteville and UW-Lacrosse not far behind.
There is still a possibility of lots of movement in the North Division standings.
