Pac West 1st On The Line With Stanford v Chico State
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Ranked 1st in the DIAA Pacific Western Rugby Conference, Chico State University heads down to play #2 Stanford University at Steuber Stadium in Palo Alto Saturday in a meeting of undefeated teams.
This game will likely decide who finishes in 1st in the conference.
“I am expecting a tough game with Stanford," said said Chico State head coach Mike Purcell. "They are very well coached and have a lot of experienced players.”
No. 8 Matt Mulholland and fullback Anthony Riley #15 have helped lead Chico State in its undefeated run.
“Stanford and Chico are both 5-0 in league play, so our game is very consequential," added Purcell. "Hopefully the boys will play well.”
“Chico State has good rugby players across their lineup and their results show that they can play both sides of the ball,” added Stanford coach Josh Sutcliffe. “I expect Chico State to play with pace and power. For Stanford, we are looking to continue our growth as a team and to play good team based rugby.”
With scrumhalf Cale Williams and lock Christian Bader putting in solid performances each week, Stanford could keep surprising people.
Kickoff is 1pm PT at Stanford University.
