Overseas: De Haas Makes Super Rugby Debut

Ruben de Haas training with the Cheetahs.

USA scrumhalf Ruben de Haas made his Super Rugby debut this past weekend.

Coming in off the bench for the Cheetahs against the Sharks, De Haas became the third generation De Haas to platy for Free State. As usual he played a strong scrumhalf, showcasing his quick and accurate pass, although we didn't see a lot of him running, something we're used to when watching De Haas in a USA jersey.

The Cheetahs lost to the Sharks on a late try, after having a try called back due to a forward pass.

De Haas's father, Pieter, and his grandfather Gerard also played for the Free State Cheetahs, and the family's history with the franchise was outlined in a Facebook post from Pieter last week.
