Old Glory Reaching Out To Community In Variety Of Ways
Old Glory Reaching Out To Community In Variety Of Ways
Old Glory is continuing its community outreach with several events this weekend in the DC area.
There will be Youth Clinics at West Potomac HS on Sunday, Feb 23 at 9am (hosted by Fort Hunt), at Cavalier Lacrosse Park Noon (hosted by Loudoun Rugby), and Albert Einstein School (at 3PM) (hosted by Bethesda).
These youth events will be free to all participants.
While The Old Glory DC team will be on the road, they are still working hard to grow the game in their area.
They are working not only in youth rugby but in the college level, as well. Old Glory is developing a relationship with the University of Mary Washington team, and in January brought in NOLA Gold GM Ryan Fitzgerald and Olg Glory Director of Player Pathway Tim Brown for a Q&A session with UMW players.
They spent a little over an hour speaking with the students on professional rugby, the player pathway, and player development.
The session was hosted by UMW’s Dr. Jose Sainz, head of the school’s International Studies Department.
This is a different way for MLR teams to ingage wiht colleges. It doesn't always have to be on the field, but sometimes can be in the classroom.
