Ohio State Handles Pitt
Ohio State looked impressive Saturday with a 57-7 victory over the University of Pittsburgh.
Flanker Corey Harmon scored three tries for the Buckeyes and scrumhalf Ian Hildebrandt scored two and set up two more.
The key moment in the game came just before halftime when OSU was up only 12-0. Pitt coughed up the ball and the Buckeyes scored to make it 19-0 at half-time, and cruised from there.
Head Coach Tom Rooney lamented a slow start by his team, and also noted that the Buckeyes committed almost twice as many penalties as Pitt.
“So there’s plenty of us to work on to get better,” said Rooney. “We could see the parts we’ve taught so far, but it was now smooth. That’s OK, we need some more time.”
Rooney praised the effort of Pitt.
“That's the first time we've played Pitt in 10 to 12 years,” said the Ohio State coach. “They were clearly excited to play us. Their new coaching staff is trying to expand the team's quality of play. They have given the Panthers good structure and a pattern. Kudos to the coaches Allan Murray and Derek Neubaurer.”
