Bishop O'Dowd kicked off the Northern California single-school campaign with a resounding win over Fresno-based San Joaquin Memorial.
No. 8 OC Lehner had a hat trick, while scrumhalf Willem Van Niekerk and fullback Cory Casquiero each scored two tries. Adding to that, center Elliot Lewis logged 17 points with six conversions and a try, and O'Dowd won 52-5.
The opposition named freshman prop Masi Latu and Lewis the two players of the match.
"Early in the season, the team that can execute the fundamentals have the best chance of winning, those basics are all we focused on this week at training," said Bishop O'Dowd Head Coach Leonard Bragg.
