Nominees For The MA Sorensen Award Are Finalized
The nominees for the 2020-2021 MA Sorensen Award have been finalized.
This list of nine top collegiate players is of course affected by the COVID shutdowns. Many college teams have not been able to play anywhere near a full season, if they have been able to play at all.
This year's award then has been most directly affected by the fact that the award is for the best women's collegiate rugby player who a) is playing for her college team, and b) is playing in a 15s championship season.
This has especially affected NIRA teams, as NIRA did not play a championship 15s season this year, and neither did DI. But DI Elite has been playing a 15s championship season, and so all of the nominees are, for this year only, solely from DI Elite teams.
The rugby public is asked to help whittle this group down to a group of finalists. The Sorensen Selection Panel will then select the winner. The nominees are below, and the link to vote is at the bottom of this article.
Help us find the best collegiate player in the country.
