New Mexico Tech Looking for New Head Coach
After taking his team to three major finals, Gearoid Dunbar is leaving his post as Head Coach at New Mexico Tech to take the head job at Mary Washington, leaving a vacancy at the Miners.
During the 2021-22 season, Dunbar's NMT side made the NCR Small College final in December, losing 34-29 to Christendom. They then entered ARC's spring playoffs, where they came back to beat University of Denver 38-31 in the final.
Finally, over Memorial Day, New Mexico Tech defeated Christendom 26-10 in the final of the Small College bracket of the May Madness 7s.
The players, at this point, knew Dunbar was moving on and said they wanted to win for the coach who had brought New Mexico Tech rugby to prominence.
Dunbar will join Mary Washington, which is part of the group of teams joining the Rugby East.
