NECRC Names All-Conference Selections
The New England Collegiate Rugby Conference has announced its All-Conference Team for the fall 2015 season.
The honors recognize 32 players, led by 10 players from conference champion University of Rhode Island, along with 7 from Vermont, 5 from New Hampshire, 4 players from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and 3 each from Boston University and Norwich University. The team consists of 15 seniors, 13 juniors, and 4 sophomores.
The conference itself had a strong season, with Rhode Island and Coast Guard Academy both receiving bids to the Men’s Division II northeast regional playoffs. Coast Guard defeated Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the play-in round before losing to Towson in the round of 16, and Rhode Island defeated SUNY-Oswego in the round of 16 and challenging 2-time national runner-up Wisconsin-Whitewater in the regional final before falling, 31-21. Rhode Island (#12), Coast Guard (#15), and Vermont (#23) were all ranked in Goff Rugby Report's DII rankings.
