NAI 7s Registration Tops 120 Teams
The NAI 7s slated for late July in Salt Lake City has signed on Irish Rugby Tours, Next Phase Rugby, and Fuzion 100 as sponsors.
The tournament, which holds competition in nine brackets, will welcome over 120 teams to the Regional Athletic Center in Utah's largest city. While some brackets are full (U14 Boys, U16 Boys, U18 Boys), there do appear to be spots open in some of the girls brackets and potentially in the U18 Boys Invitational and the U23 Men.
Teams from California, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, Wisconsin, the South, Pennsylvania, Washington, Hawaii, North Carolina, and Guam are expected to compete. Some of the programs are academy teams (and we're seeing the first of the MLR academies with the Warriors Academy involved), and some are straight club or school teams who just want to season to keep going.
Despite the inability of Canadian teams to cross the border and compete, this tournament remains strong, and is an indication, in part, of how desperate teams are to play.
Eagle Impact Rugby Academy will field four teams, two in the U18 Boys Invitational, one in the U16 Boys, and one in the U16 Girls.
Rhinos Rugby Academy, which won the National Youth 7s Rugby Boys Championships, will field nine teams, with the only bracket where they don't compete being U18 Girls.
Rock Rugby Academy out of Texas will have four teams, as will Rocky Mountain, the HS program out of Idaho.
The NAI 7s will be held July 23-24 with full coverage from Goff Rugby Report.
