NAHS 7s In Salt Lake City Canceled
The North American HS 7s has announced that the August NAHS 7s in Salt Lake City has been canceled.
Tournament Director Michael Cressler sent an email to participating teams saying that with states and provinces having different return-to-play timelines, it is impossible to have confidence in a full tournament this summer.
The NAI 7s have not been canceled as yet. That tournament shares the same time and venue as the NAHS 7s and is also run by Cressler. This year's NAI 7s will likely be smaller than previous years if it is held.
But as the NAHS 7s go, said Cressley, "we will turn our focus onto 2021 to be our best yet."
The final decision on the NAI 7s will be made June 15.
Despite the cancelations (the NAHS 7s event at the Tropical 7s was canceled in April), Cressler is optimistic about the future.
"The sky is the limit when we look at how to create a better structure and this virus has given us the chance to really tackle it," said Cressler.
