The Lions went 2-1 in pool play defeating the Central SA Academy 46-0 and the Mako Sharks 43-0. The Central SA team made the final in 2018.

In the final pool match the Lions lost to the Northwest Barbarians in a tight contest 19-14.

On Day Three of the tournament the Lions held off the Eminence 7s Invitational (based in Morocco) 15-5 in the quarterfinals and that set them up against the South African All-Stars.

This is where they hit the wall, being shut out 26-0. 

The All-Stars went on to lose 21-10 to the Australian Cavaliers in the final.

It was, overall, an impressive showing from the North American team playing against impressive teams from South Africa and elsewhere.

Also losing in the semis was the Germany U19s.
