The Indy Hawks won the JV Boys Bracket, defeating EIRA Midwest 53-5 and Illinois 43-5 on Saturday.
On Sunday the Hawks took on 2-0 Celtic Elite of Ohio. In a tough, back-and-forth game, the Hawks won.
Head Coach Bart Bottorff praised the player of sophomore flyhalf Cian Messner and freshman center Peyton Wall. Sophomore David Afa'ese was excellent at seven, as well, and his performance was especially noteworthy considering he is normally a prop.
Messner scored two tries while prop Jarred Monier scored one in the final. Afa'ese was named MVP by the tournament.
"These guys came together after one practice and a one day event in Elkhart two weeks ago," said Bartorff. "To attack the way we did and structure our defensive pressure with that limited time was impressive."
