Fewer games don't seem to make producing the rankings any easier, but here is the latest set of Men's DII College rankings.

Our rankings held up nicely over the weekend, as the higher-ranked team won nine out of 12 games. Those results included some close wins among teams close in the standings: #21 Rhode Island beat #23 Vermont 15-7; #9 GVSU beat #11 Northern Iowa 23-17; #10 Lindenwood-Belleville beat #12 UMS&T 16-3; #22 Coast Guard 24-21 over #31 IUP.

But ... we got UMass-Lowell wrong and had them way too low as they beat #19 Roger Williams. We had Springfield way too low, as they beat #26 Salve Regina. And ... we discounted SUNY Oswego's close loss to Cortland State earlier this season. Those two should have been, as the NECRC teams were, closer.

In our defense, Oswego's results against like opponents weren't as good as Cortland's. And Lowell did also lose to Providence College. And the Colonial Coast and New England Wide conferences are somewhat isolated, and as a result tough to rank, at times.

But overall we think we've got it close to right. The teams ranked #3 to #10 are almost interchangeable, so we might see some changes there.

Big shifts - UNC-Wilmington drops because of results by teams playing this weekend - being idle sometimes hurts you. UMass-Lowell moves up from #36 to #17. Oswego moves tom #46 to #19. Given GVSU's strong result against avery tough Northern Iowa, we push Xavier, which lost a close one to GVSU last week, up a few spots. Springfield also gets a boost, and Niagara, which lost but in overtime to Oswego, returns to the top 50.
