At GRR we decided to wait until we saw some results before launching into our weekly Men's D2 College rankings.

And it was a good thing, too.

This week, especially, saw teams that ended the fall of 2025 ranked and who have ended up falling out of the Top 40 this time around.

There are major movers all around, not least of which is UNC-Wilmington, Miami of Ohio, RIT, Stony Brook, and Montana.

Now, let's take a bit of a breath here; we're basing much of this on one result. Things can change dramatically over the first few weeks. But that's the point. Things change rapidly within D2 as players graduate. We often see teams go through a period of three years or so with playoff appearances and conference championships, and then that cadre of players graduate, and they fall off.

It's tough to keep that going, which is why the D2 teams that use Next Phase Rugby to promote their program and draw in maybe those two or three players who have excellent rugby experience and really want to pursue a field of study that your school specializes in.

This is also the best place to learn more about D2 college teams and how they're run.
