The top two teams remain the same this week in our D2 rankings but we've got changes after that.
The main reason for the change is because we at GRR World Headquarters made a mistake (yes, it happens). So we missed out on accounting for UVA's wins over Towson and, more importantly, Georgetown. That is our mistake but we've corrected it, and Northern Iowa moves to #3 after a massive win over Whitewater, while Virginia moves up to #4.
There are more significant moves, and that is what often happens in September in our D2 rankings. How a program puts its pieces together can change drastically year-to-year. That is what happened with Maine—a breakout season last year has been followed up by a couple of losses. This is what happened with New Hampshire, as they have built some excellent depth (we have more about them in a piece this week). RPI? They have also taken a massive step forward and not just because MLR draftee Ray Santiago is back for one more season.
