It's the opening week for our D1AA men's rankings and in keeping with our overall plan to overhaul our rankings, we're making a change.

In 2022-23 we experimented with splitting everything between fall and spring. In the end, we don't think this worked. Despite the fact that perhaps 55% of teams play 15s (almost) exclusively in the fall, about 22% plays (almost) exclusively in the spring, and the remaining 23% play across both, we think it's best just to ranking everyone all the time.

As a result you will see West Coast and Florida teams drift downward as they are idle, and then drive upward as they start to play and the fall-only teams stop. Regardless, it's possible to be a team that plays in any time frame to end up #1. How that gets decided is up to us.

There were a few results over the weekend, mostly D1AA teams playing NCR D1 or D1A opponents. The one that could have made a major change for us was Arkansas losing 40-0 to Oklahoma. We're going to put a pin in that at the moment—we have to see how strong the Sooners are, really. In addition, Colgate's win over Cornell did just enough to bump them into the Top 40 but it is a win over a D2 team so there's more to be done with them.

A quick explanation of the previous rankings. These are from our 2022-23 rankings, which we split between Fall and Spring (hence the F and S). In addition, some of the teams were ranked in both. Those are designated by an asterisk *, and we list the rank these teams achieved by the end of the spring.
