Men D1AA College Rankings Fall Week 9
This was a wild week in D1AA and that's why this ranking comes out late.
We had so many important decisions to make.
First off: We expanded our Top 35 to Top 40. That's expected. We knew that the Lonestar Conference would start to play games and we'd start to get them in the rankings. The question was, what did those results mean in the new format? We're probably a week too late on some of these, to be brutally honest, and we're sorry about that.
But ... in they come. Oklahoma's win over UT San Antonio is kind of the big one but we had UTSA too high anyway. For now at least. Texas State is overdue for an appearance and probably Baylor also.
NCRC is ... well we were going to say "confused" but really it's GRR that is confused. It's quite possible that Oregon's win over Western Washington is a result we will ultimately toss aside. Good for the Ducks but they just lost to Oregon State and WWU plays the Beavers in a few weeks. If Oregon does not back up that 17-15 result then we will see changes. As it is, WWU moves down, Oregon State moves in, and we're still confused.
LSU beat Tennessee, and this was a bad day to have a bad day for the Vols. LSU's results have been good but they hadn't been playing especially strong opponents, until they played Tennessee. We had to make this move. It's drastic, moving an unranked team into #14 or #16 or #18 ... but we did it. We did it with a careful eye toward what will happen later.
